Edge computing

Edge computing is a distributed computing paradigm that brings data processing and computation closer to the data source or "edge" of a network, rather than relying on centralized cloud servers. This approach reduces latency and allows real-time data processing, making it particularly suitable for applications that require low latency, such as autonomous vehicles, IoT devices, and industrial automation.

For example, in an autonomous vehicle, edge computing can enable the vehicle to process sensor data locally, making immediate decisions without relying on distant cloud servers. This can significantly improve safety and responsiveness in critical situations.
